Q is for Quist

My father’s mother’s father’s father’s father’s name was Isac Quist. Quist was the name he was given when he became a soldier.

Isac Quist was born 19th January 1743. The church’s records about the birth:

I can go back in these records as far as they started to document. So I now know that Isac’s grandparent’s names were Måns & Anicka and Carl & Alliana. Carl & Alliana were both born 1677.

My father’s mother Hilda Sofia – my dear grandmother and a wonderful person. She was very happily married to my grandfather – I have been told. She had seven sons and a daughter who died very young.

I find genealogy research so interesting and I love to think about their lives. How did they manage? What was their life like? How many children did they have? How did they manage to loose so many of their children? How … what … how …????

The son of Isac Quist – Peter Spjuff – my grandmother’s grandfather bought this Bible 1849.
He was also a soldier and a farmer. As soldier Peter went all over from Russia to Germany.

The bowl below is the oldest thing I have from my grandmother’s side.

It is carved in wood in one piece. I think it was a family bowl for porridge.

It is so interesting to find out about the roots.

What a great post. I'm impressed that you can trace your family back so far. More impressed that your lovely bowl has endured without the handles breaking off.
