L is for Linneryd

ABC Wednesday

L is for Linneryd – my roots in both my mother’s and father’s side. If you have seen the films about Karl-Oskar and Kristina who emigrated to America – then you have seen scenes from Linneryd. My aunt and uncle were also in the film.

I have started my genealogy again and I will focus on my fathers mother – Hilda Sofia - and go back in time. She was so wonderful. Youngest among 8 children and the only one who stayed in Sweden. All her sisters and brothers emigrated to America.

Linneryd is a beautiful place in Småland in the south of Sweden (not the very south where I live now). In Sweden the church and priests have written records over people and properties since 1670. Some places even earlier. Nowerdays it is made by the tax authoryity.

My grandparents and many more rests here in Linneryd.

My L - Linneryd is a most dear place to me.

I rather envy you having an ancestral home and the ability to trace back your family.

It is so nice and important to feel 'rooted' to a place, nation, peoples. This was a charming post.
